Seriously Helpful Terms & Conditions
We don’t like small print, so don’t have much ourselves.
Essentially it boils down to the following:
We operate an efficient centralised operation in the UK so can keep operational costs low and on a par with many offshore suppliers.
Our profit target is just 10% but we also offer a 3% discount for contract periods of 6 months minimum and 5% for 12 month contracts.
Payment terms are 15 days please. Invoices are raised 15 days into the months campaign – so in effect payment is due as the work is completed at each month end, which seems a fair split of risk.
For paid Search, clients pay Search Engines direct, our Management Fee (15%, minimum £300 a month) is invoiced a month in arrears. Unpaid invoices will be forwarded to debt collectors who will also seek to collect their own fees.
Once a budget and contract period is agreed with a client, based around either goals, keywords, or what we believe peer companies are spending, we simply split said budget into either an hourly commitment for each area or disbursements. We don’t keep detailed records of every task completed as volume is an important success factor. If you need that granularity of reporting, it is an extra cost option to be agreed in advance.
Search isn’t a guaranteed panacea as the game changes daily – so don’t bank on results in absolute terms, positions or ROI. If you doubt our credentials, talk to clients past and present.
Your site can go down. It can get penalised – although we’ve never had this happen yet, but there could be a first time! The worst we’ve experienced in 7 years is where one part of a client’s site dropped which was almost compensated for with gains elsewhere. Our goal is always to aim to deliver a sales driven ROI in 12 months, but it’s not guaranteed.
As a consequence we won’t accept contingent liability of any kind or refund fees as irrespective of how Google and other engines behave, we have still incurred costs running a campaign. But neither will we wrap things up in dodgy small-print and false guarantees, we say it as it is. If we fail to deliver we will benchmark and discuss performance with other SEO firms and work to fix things if we can.
Unless otherwise agreed the minimum contract term is 3 months. Beyond this period contracts can be cancelled at 60 days written notice, this gives us time to redeploy staff and media commitments made on your behalf. For the avoidance of doubt, if a campaign started on 1st Jan it would end on 31st March only if notice to quit was given on 31st Jan. If notice was given at the end of the 3 months it would end 60 days later on 31st May.
Typical Monthly Workplan
Whilst no two clients are the same and no two months are the same in Google, the following represents a good indication of where budget, and therefore time, is allocated within a campaign:
